Discover The Boardroom Novato, Ca

Tucked just off Highway 101, The Boardroom Novato, Ca has become one of Marin County’s most laid-back yet lively destinations for food lovers. Located at 504 Alameda del Prado, Novato, CA 94949, United States, this restaurant feels like that rare place where the menu, atmosphere, and crowd all click together perfectly. Walking in, you’re greeted by a mix of rustic wood tones, vintage décor, and a buzzing bar scene that immediately tells you this is where locals come to unwind after work or gather on weekends.

Having eaten here multiple times, I can honestly say it’s one of those spots that keeps you coming back not just for the food but for the overall vibe. The staff remember your name, the bartenders know exactly how to balance a whiskey sour, and the kitchen never seems to miss. During my last visit, I tried their “Crispy Brussels Sprouts,” which came with a sweet-and-spicy glaze that could convert even the most skeptical veggie eater. Their “Boardroom Burger” is another must-try-juicy, perfectly seasoned, and topped with melted cheddar and smoky bacon. It’s comfort food at its best, paired perfectly with a cold local IPA.

One of the standout features here is the sense of community. You’ll often find people chatting across tables or cheering during a live sports event on the big screens. According to Marin Independent Journal, restaurants like The Boardroom play an essential role in keeping Novato’s local dining scene vibrant, offering a mix of casual charm and consistent quality that keeps diners loyal. Many guests mention in their reviews that it’s the kind of place where “you can show up in jeans and still enjoy an upscale meal.”

Beyond the atmosphere, the food philosophy here leans toward freshness and creativity. The chef sources ingredients from nearby farms and coastal suppliers, ensuring that seafood dishes like the “Pan-Seared Salmon” or “Fish Tacos” always taste like they came straight from the bay. The rotating specials board often features seasonal dishes-like pumpkin ravioli in the fall or grilled asparagus with lemon butter in spring-that showcase local produce. According to the National Restaurant Association, diners increasingly prefer restaurants emphasizing locally sourced ingredients, and The Boardroom fits perfectly into that growing trend.

During one particularly busy Friday night, I watched the staff handle a packed dining room with impressive coordination. Even with a full house, the servers kept the orders flowing, checked in regularly, and managed to do it all with genuine smiles. That kind of professionalism is a sign of experience and training that not every restaurant pulls off. It’s one of the reasons locals trust this place for everything from casual lunches to family celebrations.

If you’re visiting from out of town, it’s easy to find and even easier to love. Whether you’re dropping by for happy hour or settling in for dinner, the menu has a solid balance of hearty American classics and fresh California-style dishes. The “Loaded Nachos” and “Buffalo Wings” make for great starters, while the “Grilled Ribeye” and “Lemon Garlic Pasta” hold their own against any upscale restaurant in the area. For dessert, their “Warm Bread Pudding” topped with vanilla ice cream is the kind of indulgence worth every calorie.

When it comes to drinks, the bar is a standout feature. Craft beers on tap, an extensive wine list, and an impressive lineup of cocktails make it a favorite among locals. The mixologists clearly know what they’re doing-every drink feels carefully balanced rather than overly sweet or heavy-handed. Their “Old Fashioned” is particularly good, using a house-made syrup that gives it a smooth, smoky finish.

According to OpenTable and Yelp reviews, The Boardroom consistently ranks among Novato’s most reliable dining options, praised for its atmosphere, friendly service, and well-executed menu. Regular patrons often mention how it feels like “a second home”-a sign that the restaurant has achieved the perfect balance of comfort and quality. While some might say the wait times can stretch during peak hours, that’s simply the price of popularity.

In a city known for its laid-back Northern California charm, The Boardroom manages to blend comfort, community, and culinary flair seamlessly. Whether you’re a local grabbing a drink after work or a visitor exploring Novato’s dining scene, this spot captures exactly what makes eating out in Marin County so enjoyable. Every meal feels like an experience-unpretentious, flavorful, and full of personality.

  • We held our son's wedding rehearsal dinner here for the wedding party (18 people). We scheduled it for the late afternoon before the restaurant opened and worked with the owner, Munther, over the course of several months. He put together a great menu for the group with very little tweaking on our part. The welcome cocktail in the wedding colors was a big hit and everyone thought the food was amazing! For an event this special, we couldn't have been happier with how it turned out. Would love to return under different circumstances to just enjoy the speakeasy and restaurant. We cannot recommend this place enough for a special occasion.

  • After Marin Joes closed we have been searching for the steak and pasta solid food experience. The Boardroom is like Izzy steakhouse meets house of prime rib. Steaks perfectly cooked and great sauce. Sides all excellent loved the French onion soup and you can always judge a restaurant by their bread simply amazing and served warm. Must be only real steakhouse in Marin and great menu.

  • One of my favorite places in Novato. Its small, quiet and dark and it has a piano! The selections and service are top notch! I've been coming here since it opened and surprised that you can get such a high quality dining experience in the shopping plaza location that it's in. This is a testament to its owner/founder, Munther. You can tell he sweats the details and it all pays off. The ambiance is what you'd expect of a boutique steakhouse. It features icons of yesteryear and backs it up with top notch service that you don't find anymore. The soft piano in the background is a really nice touch and makes you forget that you are in a chaotic shopping plaza. The quality of meal is really top notch. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I've had their pork chop (amazing), Tomahawk (amazing as well but bring a date) and of course the ribeye are, you guessed it, AMAZING! I love their sides too. The creamed spinach is a wonderful treat, truffle fries, whipped potatoes and the roasted Yukon potatoes are killer. Dont forget the side of green beans! Anyhoo, if your in the South Novato area and want an unexpected fine dining experience, dont hesitate to look up the Board Room!

  • We recently celebrated our anniversary here and had a great dinner. The waiter went above and beyond, and the food and drinks were excellent. The only change we would have liked would be to have some music playing, because it felt like the atmosphere was lacking a bit. But, if you go on a Friday or Saturday they have live piano music. Next time we'll do that!

  • You’d never believe a place this nice was located in a small strip mall! Small, intimate setting so the servers can see all the tables and attend to you quickly. Live piano player was excellent and took requests. Food was fantastic, didn’t need an ounce of salt or pepper added! Apart from the high end steaks the prices were reasonable. I’m definitely going to back.

  • Hidden gem in Novato! Excellent service and great food. Ambiance is one to experience - intimate and moody, just like the Speakeasy next door. Fine dining in one room and "Speakeasy" bar next door. They have a live pianist in the dining room on select nights which I have experienced, highly recommended. The odd location adds to the appeal of the "Speakeasy" feel.
